Board Information

Federal transportation planning law requires formation of MPOs for all urban areas with a population greater than 50,000 residents. Missoula’s Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) was designated in 1982 through an Interlocal Agreement between the City of Missoula, Missoula County, Missoula Urban Transportation District (MUTD) and the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT). The agreement established the Transportation Policy Coordinating Committee  to act as the governing body for the MPO and its associated staff.

This committee manages the executive business of the Missoula Urban Transportation Study.

Programs
TPCC adopts and recommends implementation of long and short-range transportation programs for the Missoula urban area, and transmits all reports and recommendations related to the continuing transportation planning for the urban area to the various agencies for final adoption and implementation.
