Board Information

The Missoula City-County Food Policy Advisory Board was established in May 2020 to coordinate and collaborate with existing local, county, regional and state food and agriculture programs; bring to the attention of City Council and Missoula County Commissioners new programs and opportunities related to food and framing; and to provide policy recommendations that focus on:

1: Increased access to affordable, nutritious and safe food for all Missoula city and county residents.

2: Enrollment in nutrition assistance programs to those who qualify.

3: The sustainability of human and natural resources necessary for agriculture (including agricultural land, important breeds/cultivars, water, skilled labor, capital and markets).

4: Development of small to mid-sized business in the food and farming sectors.

5: Strong, vibrant local food systems in Missoula city and county.

6: Make recommendation on state and federal policies

Projects and Outreach

Meetings are held in a hybrid fashion in person and virtually via Microsoft Teams. Meetings will be held in the Community & Planning Services Office conference room, 127 E. Main St., Suite 2 on the third Monday of each month from 3:30-5:00 PM.

Seven members and two alternate members who vote in the absence of a regular member.

One member is appointed by the Mayor, two by the City Council, three by the County Commissioners and one by the Community Food and Agriculture Coalition.

The first alternate is appointed by the County Commissioners and the second alternate is appointed by the City Council.
