The City Planning Commission reviews and makes recommendations to the City Council according to the Montana Land Use Planning Act (MLUPA). The commission shall also hear and decide appeals from any site-specific land use decisions made by the Planning Administrator.
Board Information
The City Planning Commission makes recommendations to City Council regarding the development, adoption, amendment, review, and approval or denial of the following documents:
1. The Land Use Plan and Future Land Use Map as provided in the MLUPA.
2. Zoning Regulations and Zoning Map as provided for in the MLUPA.
3. Subdivision Reglations as provided for in the MLUPA.

The commission consists of three citizen members and one alternate citizen member appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of City Council; and four citizen members and one alternate citizen member to be appointed by the City Council.
Four voting members must be present. Alternates can be elevated to a voting member if a voting member is absent.
All citizen members of the commission shall be residents of the City of Missoula and reside within the municipal limits of the city.
